August  Short Getaways, Site Visits & Celebrations!

August started with a VERY special celebration  our 40th wedding anniversary! 40 YEARS the ruby anniversary … WOWZERS!

I honestly can’t believe we’ve reached this milestone. What better way to celebrate than combining a little work with a little getaway? I had a site visit that brought us to Auberge du Lac Morency, and we decided to turn it into a quick little escape. It was just what we needed — a beautiful setting, some quality time together, and a chance to celebrate 40 years of memories. ❤️

Mid-month, it was off to Toronto for an annual conference. This has become a yearly tradition, and I always look forward to reconnecting with colleagues, friends, and people from our industry.  I will share that this conference is extra special because a few years ago I had the honour of being inducted into the  Hall of Fame in the Mentor category. So, being a Hall of Famer, there is an opportunity to become a Judge – well this was truly an honour and something I don’t take lightly. Being on the other side of the process and having the opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of others in our industry was incredibly rewarding.

Back home with a twist! Once back, there was barely time to unpack before heading off to another site visit — this time to the Tremblant region once again only further north. To discover a wonderful property called Bel Air Tremblant. WOW… talk about glamping! TEASER – will show/discuss with you more next month.

I will share an important closure for me. Since I was up-north, after the above-mentioned site visit and with permission from my cousins (are neighbours to my parents country home that was sold about a year ago-ish) I asked to use their balcony to have my lunch. Peacefully enjoyed the  lovely lunch I made, made my peace with it all and  finally finally closed that chapter in my life…  IYKYK

A Little Fun in Between – of course, you can’t work ALL the time! Somewhere in between site visits, travelling, and conferences, we managed to enjoy an evening out with friends at a jazz themed restaurant. With great music, good food, lots of laughs, and even better company — exactly what summer evenings should be about.

A few days later we had the joy of bringing my mother in-law to see her home (since her stroke) specifically her garden. Being wheelchair bound now she cannot go on her own ….. oufffff the trials and tubulations of one’s life … but hey, such as life, what is important is that she was happy to see her home and garden.

Ending August with love! In came the perfect way to close out the month…I attended the wedding of one of my former students and former employee! Watching someone I had the privilege of teaching and working with begin this new chapter of their life was incredibly special. The wedding was SOOOOO beautiful, and it was one of those moments that reminds you just how meaningful the relationships we build throughout our professional lives can become.

August certainly had a little bit of everything and now…

September, what do you have in store for me? Until next month…
